About — Niklas Hanitsch

I am a Hamburg-based artist, lawyer, and software entrepreneur.
I have always been drawn to creation - but FALSE GOD and the SIGNALS FROM THE MACHINE newsletter did not emerge from curiosity or aesthetic ambition. It was born from horror. Horror at the dystopian direction our world is taking, where technology and power intertwine to form systems that erode freedom, empathy, and individuality.

My work is a response to this unease. An attempt to process my thoughts, fears, and emotions about the society we live in. Through art and writing, I try to confront what feels wrong in our world: the concentration of power through technology, the loss of meaning, and the quiet acceptance of decay disguised as progress.

I am not trying to teach or preach. I am simply trying to understand, process and to resist.

To resist the growing numbness, the sedation we willingly embrace through dopamine, distraction, or narcotics. I am trying, like everyone else, to stay awake in a world that rewards blindness.

At its core, FALSE GOD is a cry against apathy — and a plea for consciousness.
I create these works not out of despair, but out of hope: hope that awareness still matters, that art can provoke thought, and that honesty can inspire change, however small.

Most of all, I do this for my son — to leave behind a trace of resistance, and a reminder that even in dark times, integrity is a choice.
