About — Niklas Hanitsch
I am a Hamburg based artist, lawyer, and software entrepreneur.
I have always been drawn to creation, but FALSE GOD and the Signals From The Machine newsletter did not emerge from curiosity or aesthetic ambition. They were born from a kind of horror. A quiet shock at the dystopian direction our world is taking, where technology and power intertwine and slowly erode freedom, empathy, and individuality.
My work is a reaction to this unease. It is my attempt to process the thoughts, fears, and emotions that come with watching society drift into something colder and more mechanical. Through art and writing, I try to confront what feels wrong: the concentration of power through technology, the loss of meaning, and the silent acceptance of decay disguised as progress.
I am not trying to teach or preach. I am trying to understand. To process. To resist.
To resist the growing numbness, the sedation we willingly embrace through dopamine, distraction, or narcotics. I am trying, like everyone else, to stay awake in a world that often rewards blindness.
At its core, FALSE GOD is a refusal to become apathetic and a reminder that consciousness still matters. I do not create out of despair. I create because I still believe that awareness can change something, even if the change is small, even if it only happens in one person at a time.
Most of all, I do this for my son. To leave behind a trace of resistance and a reminder that even in dark times, integrity is a choice.
